Hi!
What do you want to know about me? hmm well I'll start off with a little bit about my background.
I grew up in Southern California, east of Los Angeles in a city called La Puente. Growing up I attended schools that were 70+% Hispanic and the only foreign language offered in my high school was Spanish, so I took 3 years of it, and loved it to the point where I took 8 more classes in college and debated minoring in Spanish Language. In high school I also took at many art classes as I could, including Ceramics and Art History, and I loved math! it was usually my favorite class, followed closely by English, because I also LOVE to read. I am always reading something. Lately I've been on a reading kick that mostly consists of science fiction, fantasy, though YA distopian and horror also show up every couple books or so.
I love animals. I really really want a pet, but as I currently live in apartment, pets aren't allowed. One day I will get another pet of my own, and it will be AWESOME.
I graduated from BYU in 2011 with a bachelors in Visual Arts, Studio Arts emphasis, and I love drawing, oil painting, and throwing on the wheel (ceramics) the most, though if I had access to a press I would totally do printmaking. And I dabble in Photography, though its been a few years since I've had a good camera, so I'm a little rusty.
After graduating I found a job as a math aide at a junior high and discovered my love for working with students in the classroom and decided to go back to school for a semester to finish up my math credits so that I could become a math teacher and get my own classroom. Throughout that time I continued to work at a math aide for various schools as well as substitute teach, and I just loved it.
I love sports, Volleyball being my favorite, (though basketball is a close second, followed by, in no particular order, swimming, and tennis, and soccer is a lot of fun to watch though I don't have the skills to play it very competitively, and softball/baseball, ultimate frisbee, football, etc.).
I also love music. I am learning to play the piano and the guitar, they are both just so much fun.
Chocolate is my favorite. I think it should be its own food group, or if not then at least considered as a vegetable, especially if its dark chocolate, because chocolate comes from cocoa beans, and if green beans count, cocoa beans should too.
I LOVE teaching middle school! Its my favorite age group to work with and teaching math to such awesome kids is just amazing.
